Camp Kigali is another moving memorial. Here, the 10 UN Soldiers who were assigned to protect the Prime Minister were murdered on the first day of the genocide in 1994. This is now a memorial to their bravery and also a museum.
The camp hosts a small museum and a memorial which displays one stone pillar for each soldier with their age marked as lines.
The building itself bears the scars of gunfire and grenade shrapnel. In the garden are 10 obelisks, each representing a soldier, with horizontal slashes indicating his age.
